Now we are witnessing an incredible interaction between representatives of different peoples. Various communities and peoples adhering to democracy, self-sufficiency, and fraternity are united around Ukraine. The majority of free people support Ukraine and try to help the public volunteer movement of Ukrainians in every possible way. It’s a story about the interaction of caring people from Mykolaiv and volunteers from different parts of the world who care about the fate of ordinary people.
World Central Kitchen is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that provides food to victims of natural or social disasters. At the end of February 2022, after the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, World Central Kitchen expanded its activities to several points in Ukraine. On March 2, 2022, the organization opened 8 kitchens on the Ukrainian-Polish border. Later food points were established at each of the border crossings. At the beginning of March, WCK also started working in Ukrainian cities affected by the full-scale invasion, like Kharkiv, Sumy, Kramatorsk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kyiv, Dnipro and providing food for the largest transport hubs of Ukrzaliznycia. In Mykolaiv, we managed to see the activities of European and Ukrainian volunteers who support the lives of the city residents.
The population of Mykolaiv Oblast also requires constant, large, and varied assistance. City humanitarian headquarters, religious institutions, activists, and all those who care are communicating non-stop with volunteers and organizations worldwide to get the necessary help for Ukrainians in the fight for justice. We talked to representatives of various communities of the Mykolaiv Oblast, which support the region’s life daily.
