The project “Postcards from Ukraine” aims to record and demonstrate the damage caused to the Ukrainian culture by the Russian troops as a result of the bombings and shelling during the full-scale war that Russia launched against Ukraine on February 24th, 2022.
As part of the project, it will be created more than 100 postcards with cultural objects destroyed or damaged as a result of russian aggression from all over the country. Each of them has a description in the state and English languages, thanks to which you can find out under what circumstances the occupiers destroyed or damaged the depicted object.
The project aims to show the world the targeted and unprovoked destruction of Ukrainian culture and history. Currently, there are already stories from nine regions of Ukraine.
As previously reported by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, as of July 30, 2022, 450 episodes of Russian war crimes against Ukrainian cultural heritage were recorded.
135 objects of cultural heritage have already been destroyed and damaged as a result of the shelling of the occupiers. In particular, these are 23 monuments of national importance, 105 monuments of local importance, 108 objects of valuable historical buildings and 7 newly discovered objects of cultural heritage.
As a result of the actions of the occupiers, 346 art objects and cultural institutions were destroyed or damaged.
