Warm “PICH” in the darkest night of the country

At the end of 2020, one of the first independent art and social spaces, Pich (stove, eng.), opened in Vinnytsia. It was designed to generate new ideas for the development of the socio-cultural community and bring together active and creative people of the city. The Pich space was created by the Play Association, which has been organizing leading art events in Vinnytsia for several years. Over the two years of its operation, the space has hosted many creative meetings, workshops, exhibitions and presentations. The project team has the reputation of an open-minded collective that isn’t afraid of implementing new ideas. In February 2022, the team of the Pich space had a busy schedule for the next 6 months and planned to hold events involving representatives from different parts of Ukraine. But on February 24, 2022, the space became a shelter for an endless wave of refugees from different cities of Ukraine who needed temporary accommodation and shelter. During the first few months of the full-scale war, the team of Pich space, having gained considerable experience in working and communicating with displaced people, managed to organize an anti-crisis hub in their space. The anti-crisis hub for IDP activists, NGOs and charitable organizations was aimed at helping IDPs settle in the city, start their own businesses and implement new ideas. Art networking allowed temporarily displaced organizations and activists to meet local public sector representatives, cooperate and learn more about the city and its opportunities. In this film, the team of Pich space will tell you how to quickly refocus the working process and help others start their lives anew.
