A three-day festival of Ukrainian culture ART RESISTANCE — UKRAINE: WAR.DEATH.LOVE will be held Oslo on August 24-26.

A three-day festival of Ukrainian culture ART RESISTANCE — UKRAINE: WAR.DEATH.LOVE will be held Oslo on August 24-26. The project is the result of cooperation between the DAKH Contemporary Art Center, GOGOLFEST Contemporary Art Festival (Ukraine), and Det Norske Teatret Theater (Norway).

Ukrainian artists who either live in exile or had the opportunity to leave Ukraine for the event will spend three days in Norway to talk about their own everyday life and the lives of other Ukrainians.

According to the artistic director of Det Norske Teatret, Erik Ulfsby, the festival will allow the Norwegian audience to get another idea of the war, different from everyday news.

The festival includes two main parts. DANCE MACABRE Performance by Dakh Daughters band will be held on August 24 and 25. An unusual performance-installation BOMB-SHELTER NIGHT will take place on August 26.

Performance DANSE MACABRE, which was created this spring, has already been shown at stages around the world. Six female artists and musicians of the Ukrainian collective Dakh Daughters will talk about the war and its nameless violence, uprooting from their land and exile.

Performance installation BOMB SHELTER NIGHT, directed by Vlad Troitskyi, is a seven-hour immersion of the audiences located thousands of kilometers from Ukraine into reality, where they have to hide from missiles when they hear an air raid siren. From eleven in the evening until dawn, all those who want can pass this test and try to imagine what Ukrainians go through every day.

The project will contain elements of video art and animation, electronic music, texts, and real stories. Among the participants are the ensemble of the Norwegian Theater, Ukrainian artists DAKH DAUGHTERS, MARIIA&MAGDALYNA+KRKRK, RAGAPOP, STUS:PEREHOZHY, and independent local artists.

You can learn more about the event and buy tickets at the Norwegian Theater website.
